Disability Awareness Training Day Two
The second day of a two-day course designed to give an overview of acquired brain injury for anyone working with people with acquired brain injuries.
This day looks in more detail at the consequences of acquired brain injury and the challenges they present to people’s social, family and working lives, building on topics discussed during day one.
We explore the concept of challenging behaviour, looking at the particular obstacles faced by people following ABI, and examine the way that these problems can impact on people’s lives and their effect on service delivery for everyone concerned.
Having worked our way through these issues, participants will then concentrate on ways of dealing with them. Guidance will also be offered on dealing with threatening and potentially violent behaviour.
Anyone who has a professional or personal interest in ABI issues would benefit from the enhanced level of understanding gained from participation in this workshop.
At the end of this day learners will:
- Build on their basic understanding of the long-term and enduring consequences of ABI.
- Have an better understanding of the problems faced by people with ABI
- Have explored the ethics surrounding behavioural issues
- Have looked in depth at some of the particular challenges presented and faced by people with ABI.
- Have an awareness of strategies that can help to overcome these challenges
