Village pub fun day to raise brain charity cash

A mid-Devon pub which was rescued from closure last summer is gearing up to give something back to the community with a day of fundraising for a local brain injury charity.

Singers, children’s entertainers and a balloon race are among the attractions at a mid-Devon pub’s summer fun day, taking place at the Wyndham Arms in Kentisbeare, kicks off at 2:30pm on Sunday June 7 with a performance from the village children’s orchestra.

There will be entertainment of all forms throughout the day, including musical performances from local singer Abi Browning (5:30pm) and Dire Straits tribute band 'Dire Traits' (8pm).

There will be entertainment for all the family throughout the day. Hilarious children's entertainer Professor Fumble will be the star attraction for kids at 3:30pm, and at 4:30pm visitors will enjoy a thrilling exhibition by the Cullompton Tae Kwon-Do Display Team.

Headway Devon fundraising officer Holly Keatings said: “The day promises to be an exciting mix of music and games. The money raised will help us to improve the lives of people in mid-Devon who are living with disabilities caused by brain injury.”

Other activities will include face painting, a raffle and tombola, and a ‘name the teddy’ competition taking place throughout the day.

People who would like more information about the festivities should call pub manager Leanne Perkins on 01884 266327.
