Access Keys.

This site uses access keys. Access keys are essentially keyboard shortcuts on a web site that give a keyboard or screen-reader user quick and easy access to all the main areas of the site.

If you are using internet explorer pressing the Alt key in combination with the access key will give focus to that specific link on the page. Press Enter to select that link. Firefox users need to use the Alt and Shift key in combination with the access key.

If you are using a Mac pressing the Ctrl key in combination with the access key will automatically send you to that specific page.

The following are the access keys used on this site:

  • Home: Key 1
  • Information: Key 2
  • Training: Key 3
  • Volunteering: Key 4
  • Fundraising: Key 5
  • Site map: Key 6
  • Contact us: Key 7
  • Technical support: Key 8
  • Legal and copyright: Key 9

Please note: Your browser may or may not support access keys and some browsers support these keys in different ways, you may need to check your browsers help file.

At the top of every page is a hidden link that is spoken by screen-reading software. It is the first link and, when selected, will make reading skip past the rest of the menu items and commence at the beginning of the main page content.

The 'Style' buttons

Located on the every page on the top right, these buttons will instantly alter how our website looks:

  • The Contrast scheme features large text and contrasting colours while maintaining the websites basic layout.
  • The Hi-Viz scheme makes text larger and predominently white on black.
  • The system scheme removes formatting completely and uses your browsers default style setting. You can switch to the system scheme by clicking here
