Carers Week collection bolsters the brain injury coffers!

A bucket collection in Exeter’s Alphington Road Sainsbury’s store raised a whopping £246.58 for local people with brain injuries and their families.

The collection was part of a series of events run by the store to mark national Carers Week – a week dedicated to celebrating and recognising the country’s six million unpaid carers for the difference they make to those they care for and to their communities.

As Sainsbury’s supermarkets were one of the Carers Week 2012 official sponsors, Sainsbury’s Alphington Road worked with a range of organisations over the week, offering local charities a platform to promote the services available for carers and raise vital funds for this important work.

Anne Mattock, Headway Devon’s Chief Executive, commented “Headway Devon realise that brain injury doesn’t just affect one person, it can turn a whole family’s life upside down, so we were delighted to be asked to take part in the Alphington Road Sainsbury’s Carers Week events.

“We were overwhelmed by the generosity of Sainsbury’s shoppers and staff and the money that has been raised will be used to support our on-going services which provide regular opportunities and activities for brain injury survivors, as well as vital support, advice and respite for their families and carers.”
