Reaching out with the help of Lloyds TSB Foundation
The donation, which will be used to cover the costs of providing one-to-one support for people with brain injuries in North Devon and Torridge, will make a huge difference to the specialist support available to people in this under-served area.
Brain injury has a wide range of causes including head injury, stroke, brain tumour, meningitis and many other illnesses and accidents. Its effects are far-reaching and can leave people facing a range of complex disabilities including physical, learning and emotional difficulties. Headway Devon has over 16 years of experience in working with this vulnerable client group and our Community Support Workers are specially trained to support people with brain injuries and their families to live happier and more independent lives.
Community Support Service Manager, Myra Heno says, “We are delighted to have received this very generous funding from the Lloyds TSB Foundation. Our specialist services are hugely valuable to brain injury survivors, supporting them and their families to come to terms with what has happened and overcome their difficulties so that they can go on to make the most out of their futures. Until now, this service has been very difficult to run in the North Devon and Torridge areas where the that travel costs of a one-to-one service are particularly high. Thanks to the Lloyds TSB Foundation’s support, we are looking forward to being able to expand our work in this area and reach more of the people who need our help.”
Thanks to this funding, Headway Devon are now expanding the one-to-one service in North Devon and Torridge and we welcome referrals from this area and the rest of the county. If you think that you, or someone you care about, may be able to benefit from Headway Devon’s support, please get in touch by calling 01392 211822.
This expansion also means that we are now taking on new staff across the county. For more details about our current vacancies visit the Work for us page.
