Riders sought for Rotary scooter ride to Barcelona!
This September, an intrepid group of scooter riders from the Rotary Club of Otter Valley will be setting out from Ottery St Mary on a week-long journey to Barcelona and they are looking for more recruits to join them!
The unique event promises plenty of fun, while raising money for local people with brain injuries. Riders will depart from the London Inn at Ottery St Mary on 2nd September, traveling to Plymouth to catch the ferry to Roscoff. From there the group will travel south through France taking in La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Toulouse and Font Romeu in the Pyrenees – one of the oldest ski resorts in France (although there won’t be any snow in September!). The riders will then cross the border into Spain to complete the final leg of the journey to Barcelona. The tour is open-ended to allow riders the option of extending their stay and exploring Barcelona.
The challenge costs just £250, which includes the ferry fare to France plus campsites along the route, and each rider will be asked to raise an additional £250 for Headway Devon. To find out more and to sign up please contact Greg Layzell by emailing GregL1@btinternet.com.
For those who can’t take part in the ride but would still like to support the riders’ efforts, the team can be sponsored online by following this link: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/rotaryscooterrun
