Birthday tea party celebrates 20 years of brain injury support in Devon

20th Birthday Party 001On Thursday 7th July, Headway Devon marked twenty years of work in the local community with a celebratory tea party.

The event, which took place at Headway Devon’s headquarters – the XCentre by Exeter Quay, was attended by over 70 people from across the county who have benefitted from the charity’s support.

After a welcome and introduction from Headway Devon Chief Executive Anne Mattock, Chairman of Devon County Council Cllr Andrew Moulding thanked the charity for their tireless support of local people with brain injuries and led the attendees in a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday.”

As well as enjoying a delicious afternoon tea with homemade cakes baked by clients and supporters, attendees were able to enjoy a range of games and activities at the same time as meeting other people who use Headway Devon’s services.

20th Birthday Party 002Following the party, Headway Devon Chief Executive Anne Mattock said, “We were really pleased with how the event went. Our clients thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, especially the opportunity to meet and speak with so many other people affected by acquired brain injury.

“Despite supporting over 200 people every week Headway Devon is not a very well-known charity, so this event was a fantastic opportunity to throw a spotlight on our work and celebrate how much has been achieved by our charity and our clients over the last twenty years.”
