Expanding our support for carers

Headway Devon are celebrating Carers Week 2019 with the news that we will soon be expanding the support available to carers in Devon.

Since 2017 we have been operating a monthly carer support group in Exeter. Thanks to a generous donation, we will soon be expanding this support to include a carers’ portal with online resources and support, more drop-in sessions across Devon, and recruitment of a Carers Lead who will be able to provide telephone support, workshops and signposting to other services.

Headway Devon Chief Executive Ruth Wells says, “Carers are a huge asset to society and their hard work, day and night, to support those they love represents a significant saving in care costs to the country. Without the hard work of these carers, thousands of people with brain injuries would be unable to remain living at home.

“We are delighted to be able to expand the support that we offer to this important group of people and we are looking forward to the launch of this project later this year.”

Recruitment for the Carers Lead will begin later this month. If you would like to find out more please contact Hannah by emailing hannahb@headwaydevon.org.uk or calling 01392 211822.
